It is a perfect match for a small home or cabin or for powering critical loads in a grid-down scenario. As an off-grid inverter, the 6000XP will not sell back to the grid, but in passthrough mode the grid can both charge the batteries and power the load. Note: EG4 recommends LiFePO4 for any new battery purchases, but LiFePO4 and lead acid can not be mixed in.

An on grid system is connected to the utility grid, off grid is independent of the grid and backed up by batteries, whereas a hybrid is a combination of both. Also known as a grid-tied or grid-connected system, in this system direct current. Generally, on-grid solar setups are suggested for residential and commercial purposesas they are both cost-effective and efficient.

Absolutely! In fact, most home solar systems are currently operating without battery storage. If you’re fine with drawing from the grid and not particularly worried about power outages, you might not need a battery. It many cases, battery storage is a “nice to have” with solar panels for home use. However, there are a growing number of scenarios where having a solar battery bank is beneficial, if not completely necessary.
